TAYLOR YOUR TRAVELS: The Sagamore Pendry Baltimore

Updated: Mar 20, 2022

Natural light pours into hotel room and hits the two queen beds.
Pro-tip: book a room with a double queen. There's more room to spread out!

If you need a sign to book a getaway in your hometown, let this post be it! In March 2021, I booked a staycation to celebrate my 28th birthday.

Honestly, I wasn't sure I wanted to celebrate my birthday amidst a pandemic. It felt weird, it felt scary. How do you celebrate a birthday when spending time outside of your apartment feels dangerous? After some thought, I decided a staycation would provide a much-needed change of scenery while still allowing for seclusion and social distancing.

As I weighed hotel options for a one-night birthday stay, I looked for accommodations with spacious rooms, room service, and access to a local coffee shop. I ultimately decided on a luxurious night at the Sagamore Pendry Baltimore, a Pendry Hotel located in the heart of Historic Fells' Point. They had a special offer that included hotel credit -- I bought this package knowing we'd use the hotel credit toward dinner/drinks via room service.

My standards are high, and our experience exceeded all of my expectations. As we entered our room, I was captivated by the natural light. We quickly discovered our room had a balcony and faced Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Hello social distancing and people watching! Truly, the views of sunset and sunrise are unmatched, and I highly suggest booking a harbor view room for your stay.

As we settled in, I found a chocolate birthday cupcake in the room. Beautifully presented, the small detail was greatly appreciated.

We quickly settled in with drinks. James brought his favorite beer, and I had a glass of wine, a gift dropped off to the hotel from friend and fellow blogger Rachel. We had a drink or two while reviewing the dinner menu, anticipating the minute we could call to order room service from the hotel's onsite restaurant, Rec Pier Chop House.

Food and dining is an experience for us. We're more than willing to spend $ to taste multiple dishes on a menu, so we ordered 5+ dishes to the room. Dinner and drinks in bed? Happy birthday to me.

Order the filet mignon. My words can't do the steak justice, you're just going to have to trust me.

The next morning, I walked to my favorite Fells Point coffee shop, The Daily Grind. I ordered my usual, hazelnut drip coffee and an everything bagel with cream cheese, and enjoyed it on our balcony. I watched people walk their dogs while James stayed in bed, a perfect, slow morning.

A special thank you to the Sagamore Pendry Baltimore staff who made our short stay so relaxing and special. We look forward to our return, even if it's just for the filet from Rec Pier Chop House!

Pendry Hotels has properties across the United States, and my next travel goal is to stay at the Pendry - Manhattan West and Pendry - Chicago.
