5 MOST ROMANTIC BARS IN BALTIMORE

Updated: Apr 28, 2021

As I've grown older, I've gravitated away from beers at sports bars with acquaintances and friends found by proximity. Rather, I prefer to grab drinks with friends and family at quaint spaces with innovative cocktails. My penchant for romantic and scenic bars has been withstanding. A fan of conversation and room to breathe, James and I like to frequent these spaces for drinks together/with friends.

Baltimore's home to a plethora of restaurants and bars, each with a unique personality. A beautiful bar is a selling point for me, therefore, I wanted to share some of my favorite bars in Baltimore. Filled with ornate detail and romanticizing the act of "grabbing a drink", these 5 Romantic Bars in Baltimore are worth a visit.

Orto offers Happy Hour to guests, from 5-7PM on weekdays.

BLUEBIRD COCKTAIL ROOM

If your preferred bar vibe is 'speakeasy', you must visit Bluebird Cocktail Room. Adorned with chandeliers and yellow couches, the space reminds me of a chic parlor. Personally, I think it's a great spot for a first date or nightcap. Their cocktail menu is seasonal and innovative. Hungry? Check out their Cocktail Room Food Menu. Bluebird offers guests Happy Hour on Sunday & Monday, 5PM-close and on Tuesday & Thursday, 5-7PM.

MAGDALENA

Magdalena elevates the term "hotel restaurant" to a true fine dining experience. Nestled in The Ivy Hotel, Magdalena is open to guests of the hotel as well as the general public. Their bar maintains a great selection of seasonal cocktails and whiskeys to pair perfectly with bar snacks or a full meal. The intimate, romantic atmosphere offers guests both privacy and attentive staff to ensure satisfaction.

W.C. HARLAN

Want to impress a date? Your significant other? Take them to W.C. Harlan, a true speakeasy hidden in Baltimore's Remington neighborhood. The only indication of its presence is a black door with the word OPEN scribbled in chalk. As you enter, you're welcomed into 1920s prohibition with an intimate setting perfect for cocktails and conversation. Although small, the space serves up cocktails always featuring a cocktail du jour. Feeling creative? Give them an alcohol and flavor profile and let them create you a custom cocktail. The space also serves beer and wine (with a more limited selection.)

SUGARVALE

Shaken or stirred? Pick your poison and preference at Sugarvale. Tucked away, off the corner of Mount Vernon's Square, Sugarvale can easily be missed by a passerby. Located underground, the cocktail bar's private nature is a part of its charm. Seasonal installments hang from the dimly lit ceiling to create a unique atmosphere while multiple mirrors capture the tile-patterned floor. Popularity maxes out the space at 35 seats, and guests can choose from a seasonal cocktail list accompanied by beer and wine. Outdoor seating is available throughout the warmer months. Sugarvale offers Happy Hour to guests from 5-7PM and 10PM-close, Monday through Thursday.

OUTFIT DETAILS

My inspiration for this look: ballerina. The romantic, pink lace Keepsake the Label dress is not typically something I would choose for myself, but the structured femininity of the bodice with the lace called to me when I was selecting items for my Rent the Runway Unlimited bag. Would you believe me if I told you that all accessories are vintage? Typical Taylor.

I bought the wicker bag from an antique mall in Adamstown, PA. My earrings are hand-blown glass from Germany, a steal from Carry On Shop. Lastly, I scored these snakeskin, Kate Spade beauties for $20 on Poshmark! Worn maybe twice. They are in great condition, I'm going to have to stop myself from wearing them every time I go out.

Considered trying Rent the Runway Unlimited? As a practical shopper, I was hesitant to try it at first. But with the sheer # of outfits I can create, shoot, and flaunt, I'm hooked! Get $30 off your first order through this link.
