MY PICKS: Signed, Blake x Amazon the Drop SS21
Updated: Aug 28, 2021
Have you heard of Amazon the Drop? I recently bought two pieces from Signed, Blake's SS21 Collection with Amazon the Drop. Keep reading to find out my tips for shopping The Drop and how I styled my pieces.
What you need to know about Amazon the Drop:
Influencers and media personalities design an exclusive clothing collection with Amazon the Drop. You can see live and upcoming collections here.
The date of a collection's drop is announced only a few days before it goes live.
The time of the collection's drop is not released until the collection goes live. Sign up for email/text alerts.
These exclusive pieces are only available for a limited amount of time (~30h).
Popular pieces sell out in minutes because Amazon the Drop limits the amount of product sold to ensure that there isn't a surplus.
You aren't charged for the items until they ship.
Blake's 2021 collection was my first time shopping Amazon the Drop. When I saw the high waisted, citronelle pants, I was instantly intrigued. They were chic AND practical; I knew I could style them to work, to date night, to travel, to see my grandma. They made a statement, and I had to have them.
What I like about Amazon the Drop is that it might feel impulsive, but it's not. If you're a faithful reader, you know I'm not an impulsive shopper. Sure, clicking "Add to Cart" within 30 seconds of the collection's drop felt impulsive, but Blake ensured customers had a full preview of pieces before the collection's launch, detailing fit and sizing. The strategy helped me plan ahead; I had decided which pieces fit personal style and complement my current closet weeks before the collection went live.
I have to say, it was a unique shopping experience. After some Googling, I had a hunch that Blake's collection would launch at 12PM noon EST. Why? To ensure West Coast customers could shop at a reasonable hour (9AM). Turns out I was right.
At 11:59AM, I refreshed Blake's page, hit "Add to Cart", and checked out within seconds.
Due to the overwhelming demand for Blake's SS21 Collection, Amazon the Drop acquired more fabric and did another drop, re-releasing the most popular items. After seeing so many people ROCK the strappy midi dress, I took a shot at the second drop...and scored!
