FINDING SANCTUARY WITH BOZZUTO BALTIMORE

Updated: Jul 4, 2021

When I first moved to Baltimore, I knew no one and nothing about the city. As you can imagine, the hunt for my first apartment was difficult. No one told me that each of Baltimore’s neighborhoods embodied their own beautiful personality, so I had to try and find an apartment that matched my lifestyle and my needs in a 1) short time period and 2) with little knowledge of Baltimore’s neighborhoods. Six years ago, I moved into my first apartment between the Mount Vernon and Downtown Baltimore communities to start a new chapter of my life in Charm City.

Now, after living in the city for six years (in 3 different Baltimore neighborhoods), I can say that Baltimore is the quirkiest city I’ve ever experienced. A beautiful quirky! Baltimore’s unique communities and down-to-earth residents bring a breath of fresh air to city living. I started my blog as a way to meet new people in a new city and build a sense of community. And as I learned more about Baltimore, I learned more about myself.

My Bozzuto Baltimore Story

Naturally, the longer I lived in the city, my lifestyle and my needs changed. I moved to Baltimore as a single, recent graduate working as a Research Technician. Now, I’m a graduate student, (working from home, indefinitely) in a long-term relationship. As you can probably guess, my needs look different than they did six years ago. And they have grown to include the needs of my partner.

When my partner and I decided to move in together, we started our apartment hunt. Moving is one of my least favorite activities ever, but deciding on an apartment was actually quite easy for us. Moving? Easy? How???

Property Needs: After six years in Baltimore and two years in our relationship, I knew my needs as a graduate student and my partner’s needs as a chef who works outside of the city. We needed a location that 1) is within walking distance of the shuttle I take to campus 2) has quick access to I-83 3) has a parking garage 4) has multiple community spaces I can work from home.

Property Tour: We scheduled tours of apartment buildings in our desired location, and ultimately found our new sanctuary at a Bozzuto Baltimore property. The Bozzuto Management Team listened to our budget, our preferred layout, and our anticipated needs...a furry friend! We self-toured an apartment with our desired layout (our decision due to COVID-19 safety precautions, it went very smoothly!) and knew it was the exact space we wanted. We quickly applied online for the apartment. Once we were approved, we signed our lease and scheduled a move-in date with the Leasing Office!

Move In: To top it all off, Bozzuto Management’s attention to detail made for a smooth move-in day. We were encouraged to book the loading dock for unloading our vehicles and were given vouchers to cover the cost of accessing the parking garage. Throughout the whole moving process, I felt welcomed and informed by the Management team. I always ask questions, and they were SO helpful answering all my random emails about the application process, setting up monthly parking, and where the trash rooms were located, haha.

After Move-In: We are loving our new apartment and enjoying the chance to turn it into a unique space that reflects our personalities! Most Bozzuto Baltimore properties extend their Welcome Home Commitment to new residents, and all properties have a 70+ point cleanliness checklist and sanctuary seal. Having moved during COVID-19, we appreciated 1) that if we didn’t love our new space or if circumstances changed within the first 30 days of our move, we wouldn’t be penalized and 2) Bozzuto Baltimore’s emphasis on cleanliness.

“What do you need at an apartment to feel at home?”

A goal of my blog is to provide my readers with valuable information. I’m always looking to share my knowledge and experiences in order to make your lives smoother. Information is valuable when you’re moving to a new city or neighborhood, and I’m here to share my insights to make your transition to Baltimore an informed one.

For us, location, parking, and proximity to transport played a huge role in deciding on our Bozzuto Baltimore apartment. Your needs may look different than ours, that’s to be expected! Maybe you have pets, need a supercharged gym, and/or want easy access to Baltimore’s waterfront. The great thing about Bozzuto Baltimore? Their properties are customizable and optimized to make your busy lifestyle easier.

Whether you're moving to Baltimore or moving within it, you deserve to feel a sense of community. I've partnered with Bozzuto Baltimore to highlight their eight communities in Baltimore City, all offering an array of amenities and top-notch services to fit your needs. Keep reading to learn how Bozzuto Baltimore has an apartment home for every personality as they embark on their mission to create sanctuary for everyone!

The Fitzgerald

Taylor stands in teal dress with fringe hem in front of The Fitzgerald's community kitchen.
This custom dress from DifferentRegard was designed and produced in Baltimore (less than a mile from The Fitzgerald!)

Located at the intersection of the Station North, Midtown-Belvedere, and Bolton Hill neighborhoods, The Fitzgerald is in walking distance to MICA and JHMI-Peabody, University of Maryland shuttles, making it a perfect apartment building for creatives, graduate and medical school students. Offering studios, 1BR, and 2BR apartments, The Fitzgerald has a variety of apartment layouts to fit your needs.

Personally, I love trying new coffee shops. If you’re like me and love exploring coffee shops, you’re in luck! There are a handful of local coffee shops within ~10min walk of The Fitzgerald, along with art museums, diverse cuisine, and Pennsylvania Station, Baltimore’s train station. Living at the Fitzgerald makes it easy to grab your coffee and go to D.C., N.Y.C., Philly for a day trip.

Pro Tip: If you’re moving to Baltimore from out of town and/or touring virtually, make sure you connect with the Bozzuto property’s Community Expert! They are a resource to help you understand Baltimore and specific neighborhood info for any Bozzuto Baltimore property (coffeeshops, restaurants, nearest gym, grocery stores, etc).

Take a virtual tour of The Fitzgerald community, including amenities like a theatre, private yoga room, and swimming pool. You can also schedule an in-person, self-guided, or live virtual tour of The Fitzgerald here!

Luminary at One Light

Taylor walks in a black and white patterned jumpsuit in Luminary's club room.
This black and white pattern mimics the views of Baltimore City streets from Luminary's clubroom!

Be in the center of it all! With incredible views of Downtown Baltimore, Luminary at One Light is truly one of a kind. This Bozzuto Baltimore property’s juxtaposition gives residents easy access to major Baltimore neighborhoods but remains a calm sanctuary in the middle of a busy Downtown Baltimore -- or what some call the CBD. Trust me when I say the views are awe-inspiring.

As a resident of Luminary, you’re moments from downtown Universities, companies, restaurants, and bars, but the property has plenty of amenities to ensure you don’t have to leave your building to experience the beauty of Baltimore. A clubroom and coffee bar for remote work, a swimming pool for play, and a dog run, perfect for dog owners looking to live in the heart of the city, ensure that you’ll experience convenience and luxury for your current chapter of life.

Take a virtual tour of Luminary’s amenities, as well as 1BR, 2BR apartments. You can also schedule an in-person or live virtual tour of Luminary at One Light here!

1305 Dock Street

Taylor wears a blue sweater and plaid pants while standing on the stairs of 1305 Dock St's entrance
Being so close to the water, I had to wear blue in 1305 Dock Street's lobby. Fun Fact: I got these pants nearby at J.Crew in Harbor East!

Down by the water, down by the Dock (Street)! Located in the Harbor Point neighborhood, 1305 Dock Street is a community for professionals and water lovers, alike. If you’re like me and like to experience a city by exploring it, you’ll enjoy being able to walk to Whole Foods, [solidcore], PLANTBAR, local coffee shops, and Harbor East stores. Perks of living at this Bozzuto Baltimore property include Dock Deals, like 10% off packages at one of my favorite Fell’s Point fitness studios, Pilates House.

Pro Tip: If you’re in the medical field, this Bozzuto Baltimore property, along with Liberty at Harbor East, The Promenade, Spinnaker Bay, Union Wharf, is <0.5mi walk to the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution (JHMI) Bond Street Shuttle. This shuttle takes you directly to the JHMI campus for an easy commute! JHU Carey Business School is also conveniently located right in Harbor East!

This Bozzuto Baltimore property is unique in that it offers studio apartments, as well as 1BR and 2BR + optional den! Take a virtual tour of 1305 Dock Street community. You can also schedule an in-person, self-guided or live virtual tour of the 1305 Dock Street community here!

Liberty Harbor East

Taylor walks in a purple dress with lilac blazer in Liberty's community space.
I styled this luxe purple and gold combo to highlight Liberty's luxe community space.

With breathtaking views of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, Liberty Harbor East makes apartment living look so effortlessly chic. If you treat your space like your sanctuary, you’ll appreciate that Liberty’s community spaces are designed to be both practical and luxurious - the resort-style infinity pool, the clubroom, the community workspaces, the pet park with training equipment. The list of amenities goes on. One of my favorites features of Liberty is its quick access to Whole Foods and locally-owned Bin 604, but it’s worth noting the location of this Bozzuto Baltimore community is perfect for those working inside and outside of the city! The Liberty community is both 1) a short distance from Harbor Point, Fell’s Point, and Downtown Baltimore and 2) a short drive to I-83 access (for those working north of the City).

Pro Tip: If you’re in the medical field, this Bozzuto Baltimore property, along with Spinnaker Bay, The Promenade, 1305 Dock Street, Union Wharf, is <0.5mi walk to the Johns Hopkins Medical Institution (JHMI) Bond Street Shuttle. The Promenade at Harbor East

Taylor stands infront of The Promenade's lobby library in a black & white patterned maxi dress.
This black & white dress is comfortable and chic, perfect for picking up a book from The Promenade's lobby library.

Step out and into all that Harbor East has to offer! Tucked away on a quiet side street, The Promenade is steps from the shops and restaurants of Harbor East. The community has a walk score of 96 and sits in the middle of Baltimore’s shopping destinations: Sassanova of Baltimore, J.Crew Harbor East, Free People, Allen Edmonds, luluemon, LUSH, Curiosity, Bin 604. Be sure to grab a cup of coffee or tea before you run errands from The Promenade’s complimentary coffee and tea service. Whether you’re into style or just the accessibility of it all, The Promenade at Harbor East is close to all your must-haves at their boutique community.

Spinnaker Bay

Taylor wearing a floral maxi dress with floral embroidered jacket as she sits in Spinnaker Bay's community
Spinnaker Bay is close to Baltimore's best restaurants, and I'm ready to head out to brunch in this double-floral look!

Brunch, anyone? Whether you’re hosting friends for coffee dates on Spinnaker Bay’s terrace, in the community kitchen, or heading out to local brunch spots, this community has you covered. In addition to brunch, Spinnaker Bay makes dinner and a movie easy; head to dinner down the block and the movie theatre across the street! In the mood to stay home? Take advantage of the community’s outdoor grill, heated pool, and sweeping views of the harbor! In the heart of Harbor East, this Bozzuto Baltimore property caters to your social life.

Union Wharf

Taylor wearing a jeans, a teal sweatshirt, and plaid blazer as she stands with a dog in Union Wharf's waterfront community space.
A business casual Friday look, hanging out in Union Wharf's waterfront community space.

If you’re looking for waterfront views, it doesn’t get much better than Bozzuto Baltimore’s Union Wharf property. Steps away from Baltimore’s waterfront promenade and one of the city’s social epicenters, Fell’s Point, Union Wharf is a dream! Union Wharf’s proximity to the promenade is perfect for those of you who enjoy running, walking dogs, or taking in the views of Charm City’s most iconic attractions. Bozzuto Baltimore properties, like Union Wharf, strive to make your busy life easier. They offer an array of resident services, including referrals and discounts to local businesses. And daily valet dry cleaning?? Talk about a lifesaver! As a young professional who definitely WEARS her clothes, this service is incredibly useful!

Take a virtual tour of Union Wharf community, including amenities like a theatre, fitness center, and swimming pool. You can also schedule an in-person or live virtual tour of the Union Wharf community here!

Anthem House

Taylor wearing a red maxi cardigan as leans against the pool table in Anthem House's community space.
This look is cozy and chic, just like Anthem House's community spaces.

Waterfront views and wellness, two things Anthem House has perfected! There are so many things to highlight about Anthem House, but their focus on wellness is unmatched. Located in Locust Point, on the south side of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, this Bozzuto Baltimore property is a hub for small businesses and the people that run them: collaborative work spaces, state-of-the-art fitness center + weight training studio, and a rooftop pool with sweeping Harbor views. For my fitness lovers, the community is a short run/walk to Fort McHenry and Under Armour’s Global Headquarters.

No matter how you define self-care, Anthem House has a local retail partner to help you nourish, sweat, and refresh. My personal favorites are The Bar Method, Limoncello, Pure Raw Juice, and Polished Day Spa. The Anthem House is also conveniently located to neighborhood amenities like a grocery store, wine shop, and local brewery Diamondback Brewing Company.

Pro-Tip: Anthem House is within walking distance to the Harbor Connector, a FREE Baltimore commuter service taking riders from Locust Point, across the Inner Harbor, to Maritime Park (Route HC 1, runs M-F 6AM-8PM)

Take a virtual tour of the Anthem House communities. You can also schedule an in-person, self-guided, or live virtual tour of the Anthem House community here.
