The trip of a lifetime. I'm sharing all of the amazing experiences - and people - that await for you at Calabash Cove Resort and Spa on the stunning island of St. Lucia.

I’ve already told you about how great staycations can be, but sometimes you want to dedicate a little more time and money to vacation abroad. One of the most stunning destinations in the Caribbean, St. Lucia is home to many resorts perfect for another type of escape. I recently headed to the island of St. Lucia for an unforgettable vacation at Calabash Cove Resort & Spa, a boutique resort perfect for a romantic couples getaway and/or relaxing disconnection. With 26 rooms ranging from junior suites to private cottages, Calabash Cove is nestled in one of the northern coves of the gorgeous island -- and a place I was fortunate enough to call home for a week.

Reflecting back on my time at Calabash Cove, I can’t recommend a better resort for visiting St. Lucia for the first time. Personally, I get a little intimidated traveling to new destinations when they’re so far from home. It’s definitely exciting to visit new countries where languages, currency, and cultures are different, but familiarity is key to feeling comfortable when surrounded by new experiences.

Arriving at the airport, I immediately felt a positive and welcoming vibes from the island’s residents. That same hospitality was amplified by the entire staff of Calabash Cove; the resort and its employees truly made the oceanside oasis feel like a home-away-from-home. From the bartender’s recommendations of local island activities to the ground staff’s beaming smiles, the faces of Calabash Cove made it easy to make personal connections (something I value when traveling.)

At the resort, every room is a suite but guests have the option of staying at a more private, Water's Edge Cottage. Regardless, all rooms at the resort come with stunning waterfront views and easy access to the lobby, infinity pool, spa, and private beach.

Honestly, one of my favorite parts of our stay at Calabash Cove was waking up to fresh coffee and views every morning. Our relaxing mornings continued with breakfast at the resort's Windsong Restaurant (breakfast is included in all guests' packages, not exclusively the all-inclusive packages.)

After breakfast, we spent most of our days at the pool and/or private beach. It's rare for me to get away, and it's even rarer for me to truly do nothing on a vacation. Confession: I have a hard time disconnecting from my busy-body nature. I surprised myself with how easily I embraced a week of lazy days spent drinking frozen rum cocktails. I'm convinced this island is truly paradise. Coming from a city, I owe most of this natural disconnection to the island vibes of St. Lucia and tranquil environment of Calabash Cove.

After days spent in the sun, a shower, and a well-deserved nap, we either headed back up to our beloved Windsong Restaurant for dinner....or ordered room service. Some nights, we really didn't want to leave the comfort of our pajamas and fluffy bed. Regardless of location - in the open-air restaurant, on our suite's balcony, or on the private's beach -- we were captivated by every single sunset.

Our vacation at Calabash Cove is one I will not forget. Not only did we meet new couples, make new friends, and see new things, but this vacation came at a very exciting time in my life. With my PhD program starting in August, I don't know the next time I will be able to put life on hold for a week, wear bathing suits for a week straight, drink rum infinity pool-side, climb a mountain, and swim in clear blue water without a care in the world.

Thank you Calabash Cove for the amazing time, all-inclusive of not only food and drink, but amazing experiences and beautiful people.
